Usage Note 52382: Filter does not retain selection criteria when all values of a dimension are deselected

DetailsAboutRate It

When you create a filter as follows, SAS® OpRisk VaR overwrites filter criteria:

  1. On the Criteria tab, deselect all values for a dimension.
  2. View the updated counts on the Loss Data tab. See SAS Note 50191 for additional details about viewing updated counts on the Loss Data tab.
  3. Save the filter ► close the filter ► re-open the filter.
  4. Click the Criteria tab ► choose the dimension for which you had deselected all values.
Notice that all of the values are reselected for that dimension. Furthermore, notice that the Loss Data tab shows updated counts with the reselected dimension criteria.

This behavior is by design. Deselecting all filter options creates a filter that excludes all losses. This is a not a typical filtering scenario for analyzing loss data. Also, it can significantly degrade the performance of the filter. To provide a more meaningful filter result, SAS OpRisk VaR automatically reselects all filter criteria for dimensions that contain no selections when you save, close, and re-open the filter. The counts are updated accordingly.

If you need to produce a "no-loss" filter, you can create one that does not degrade performance by adding criteria such as General Ledger GL Code with a non-existent value.
